Father of My Dreams

To have a father who did not abandon me….
Or a dad that never abused me….
The step-dad that should have loved me….
Instead he decided to use me.

Your child is very fortunate
To have such a wonderful dad
A father I can only dream of
The father I wished that I’d had.

You are the Father of my dreams…
So gentle, loving, and kind
But I’m glad that you are my best friend
And that gives me peace of mind.

Without you my life would be nothing
For I would be all alone
Together our lives are exciting
Together we build a great home.

I may never had a dad like you
But to me you will always be…
A very special man in my life
And together we’ll make history.

I loved writing poetry when I was younger and need to get back into it again! It’s fun, therapeutic! Part of the poem is wrong in that I was raised by my Grandparents and my Grandfather was a wonderful father figure for me! He was the best!!!! I had a yearning though to know my own dad and my step-father should not have been around in our lives!
