Memory Lane of My Baby Boy!

BearstoyniteyniteGrowlyBearBear and his first Christmas, he got lots of toys! Bear was so little he could sleep with me on my bed! Bear growling at me only wanting me to throw his ball and not take his picture!

He has a birthday coming up, it is hard to believe that he will be 7 years old already! I would love it if he lived forever but I know that he can’t! He has enriched our lives in countless ways!

State Reception Room…..

ReceptionRoomDetailStateCapitolBallRoomStateCapitolBallRoom2DSC_0066DSC_0067DSC_0068DSC_0069I apologize if I accidentally post some pics twice, but I took so many and I am proud of all of them. This flag is very rare and it is owned by the State of Washington. It has 42 stars. It is displayed in the State Reception Room. The flag was never official because of the admission of Idaho shortly after Washington.

I am in such awe of the beauty of this building that I may just have to make another trip there and tour it again!

Some History and Details of My Pics to Share….

DSC_0045DSC_0051The Chandelier in the Rotunda of the Washington State Legislature is made by Louis Comfort Tiffany who is the son of Charles Lewis Tiffany. It weighs 10,000 pounds and our tour guide said that it can fit a full size Volkswagen Beetle if put in sideways.

WashingtonStateSealDSC_0062Washington became a state in 1889. I enjoyed listening to the story and history that our guide shared with us! He said  a committee proposed an elaborate design for the Seal but it was very complicated sketch of the port of Tacoma, vast wheat fields, grazing sheep and Mount Rainier. Jeweler Charles Talcott said the design was too complicated and would be outmoded by the growth of the state. He said something simple would be timeless.

He picked up an ink bottle and drew a circle around its base. He then placed a silver dollar in the circle and drew an inner circle. Between these circles he lettered the words, “The Seal of the State of Washington, 1889”. In the center he pasted a postage stamp bearing a picture of George Washington.

It quickly was accepted by the Legislature.

My Lasagna Modification! Yummy!

ImageImage 1Image 2My Recipe for dinner fixins:

Saute one whole onion in some olive oil until caramelized! I sprinkled them with Italian Seasoning as they cooked. Add 3 cloves of garlic and saute some more.

Brown hamburger, add your favorite spaghetti sauce. I also added 2 tomatoes cut up for added flavor.

Cook about 8 Lasagne noodles to package directions.

Place sauce in bottom of pan, add a layer of noodles, sprinkle cheddar cheese on top, repeat layer. Top with a couple cans of cream of mushroom soup and sprinkle Parmesan Cheese.

Cover with foil and bake at 350 deg for about 45 to 50 minutes.

Enjoy!
